Can I use more than one payment plugin? werd gestart door Alex Chartier
Generally, as you know, we use PayPal for all of our transactions. However, some customers have trouble processing the transaction through PayPal so we thought of adding a second one such as Stripe. How would the checkout process vary if both plugins were installed?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hi Alex,
in the checkout view you would then have multiple options in step 3. See image from my test environment where i have installed and enabled 4 payment plugins:
So the customer selects what he wants (in your case PayPal or Stripe) and then when clicking proceed he will be redirected to the selected one for the payment.
Note that Stripe has way lower fees for transactions, PayPal is 'expensive'.

Thanks Ruud. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Not sure if can actually set up stripe as we are not a registered corporation, have no business address, or bank account. We are piggybacking the PayPal account for my registered business for our payments. Setting up a whole new structure just so we can use Stripe may not be worth it.
Will ponder it.
Thanks again.

Well we are now ready to set up stripe. I want to do some testing of it in sandbox mode. Is it possible to enable the Strip plugin but not show it to users just yet? I don't want them attempting to pay via stripe until I get it all tested.
Or am I going to have to set this up on a test site first to iron out the kinks?

Hi,
best to test on test site, as it will be available to end-users when enabled (even in testmode)

OK, got that working, took me a while to get the stripe cli going to test the webhooks.
Am I right to assume that other than the EU, I will need to enter the tax rate in any of the other countries I take orders from? This gets complicated as for canada we have a flat 5% HST (sort of a VAT tax), and then each province (states) add another percentage.
How can I handle this? Or do I need to?

Hi Alex,
that al depends on what the tax rules are for your country when doing business with e.g. other countries.
here in Europe every country has its own rate. This rate applies for consumers except when the turnover for the shop owner is below a thresshold, then the rate for the shop country applies.
Exemptions are B2B where the business is in another EU country and he has a validated tax number. Also exempt from tax are countries outside the EU.
So just saying that this is complicated and per country different: first thing you need to get clear is what rules apply to you when doing business with fellow countrymen / other countries.
