Research Feature request: Subscribe on Social Media for a Discount

I don't remember whether I shared this idea before, but I have a feature request (or perhaps just an idea worth considering).
It could be an additional feature that offers a small discount to users if they click a "Share on Social Media" button during checkout. For example, there could be buttons for Facebook, X, LinkedIn, and possibly other platforms. A user clicks one of the buttons and shares a message on their profile. The system verifies the share, and if it is confirmed, the user receives a small discount, such as 2%.
This works on a similar principle to the old "social lock" concept, where users shared content to gain access to hidden content. There were some Joomla 3 plugins that implemented this, and I still have them available for investigation if needed.
Actually, it might not have been posting a message but rather subscribing or following a profile—I don't remember the exact implementation. In any case, it was a simple but effective way to generate social exposure and increase the number of followers/subscribers.
This approach was implemented in PayPlans around 12 years ago, and I remember that it helped increase the number of subscribers.
Do you think it would be worth considering for implementation in OchSubscriptions at some point in the future?
Best regards,
Eugene

P.S. Sorry for the off-topic question. I seem to remember there was an add-on called something like "Users Also Buy" that could display selected products on the checkout page based on the product being purchased. However, I don't see such an add-on in the current list of available products. Has it been discontinued, or is it now obsolete?
The contents of the module can be configured based on the related products, or you can create a mapping e.g. when you have ochSocials in the checkout, it will display ochOpenGraph.
It takes into account the products already in the checkout, etc.

It can be used with parameters, where a parameter is e.g. the share text or the share url (default = the page it is diplayed on, but this can be a different url).

As for registering and giving a discount, that is something that is IMO not usefull as it cannot be checked. we can register the click on the button, but that doesn't mean that it is actually shared, and when shared, there is no guarantee that it stays shared.
Social media platforms do not provide an API with which you can request that information.
what you could do, is e.g. (ochSocials has that feature) automatically add a hashtag. You can then monitor the usage of that hash tag and follow up on this on a schedule, but that is not automated (or maybe there is a way to automate that.
You could also (again with ochSocials) construct the share url with a couponcode attached: so everybody who follows that url on social media will automatically get a discount: that is another way of rewarding / adding value to the sharer: his friends get a discount.
so several possibilities, not 100% what you are requesting but worth considering / discussing i think

Thank you very much for your replies. I'll try the Cross-Sell module; it looks very interesting. As for the discount for sharing, I'm terribly sorry—it seems I was mistaken. It wasn't for sharing, but for subscribing to a channel. Sharing a message is not very useful, as it quickly disappears among other users' activities. However, NorrNext's Twitter and Facebook accounts gained new subscribers through this feature. The model was working well.
When we migrated from PayPlans to RD-Subscriptions, this functionality was no longer available, and the growth of subscribers almost came to a halt. Wow—10 years with almost no new Facebook subscribers! That's why I remember those times so fondly.
If it is possible to check whether a user is subscribed, that could be very useful. Even a small one-time discount of 0.5–2% can be a good incentive. Yes, some users will unsubscribe immediately or later, but some will stay, and that's still a valuable conversion.
Nowadays, it's very difficult to encourage users to follow social media accounts. Perhaps a feature like this could help improve the situation. This is just an idea to think about for the future.
Best regards,
Eugene

I can imagine that they also offer a sort of welcome functionality for new subscribers? If so, then you could make the discount part of that onboarding message?
The Socials Media 'scene' has changed a lot the last years and IMO is shifting very fast to a 'whats in it for me' mentality: if the account or group is not adding value, they will not subscribe. When a bonus is offered, they use the subscription for the bonus and when received unsubscribe again. Times have changed IMO.
And now with zero-click search result (Google now even doesn't offer a SERP but pulls you in a chatbox where you can ask follow up questions), so that 'platform' is also near to useless > over 50% of the traffic to websites is AI fetching info, the number of real users on websites is getting less and less.

This will not build your followers, but will likely have people share your products (with their code attached) more on social media and that way you will get social media traction.
thoughts on this?
