Yes you can! the component uses the Joomla ACL system (Access Control Lists). What that enables you is to have different groups of people have different rights in the component, When installed the settings are similar to those of com_content (Joomla! articles):
Author can create, editor van create and edit (own and others), publisher can create, edit own and others and publish.
When you are logged in and have sufficient rights, the [add] button will appear automatically in the overview. Also when you can edit or publish you will see in the items an icon with which you can edit the item (full front-end editing).
